Dorina Amina Abubakar

Dorina Amina Abubakar is a producer, film programmer, writer and actor, currently serving as the Program Specialist for the African Creative TV (ACTV) based in Los Angeles. ACTV is dedicated to enhancing the skills of top-tier African content creators through summer residencies, specialized below-the-line training labs, and access to international marketplaces.

In addition to her work with ACTV, Dorina contributes her expertise in programming to several prestigious film festivals, including the Tribeca Film Festival, BlackStar Film Festival, Pan-African Film Festival and Brooklyn Horror Film Festival. Dorina has also worked extensively as a stage, screen and voice over actor.

With academic degrees from both New York University (Tisch School of the Arts) and University of California (Los Angeles) Dorina brings a rich, multicultural perspective to her work, having been raised in Ghana, Germany, The Bahamas, and the UK. She is deeply passionate about uplifting African narratives and producing content that addresses global human rights issues while amplifying underrepresented communities.

Dorina is also committed to creating a sustainable pipeline for African content to thrive, not only in Hollywood but on the global stage. She is currently working on plans to develop a state-of-the-art production studio in Accra, furthering her mission to elevate African voices in media.
