Testimonial from previous AMC Seasons
Participating in the Africa Monologue Challenge was a transformative journey. In the aftermath of winning Season One, I discovered that it was not just a competition, rather a stage that brought my craft into the spotlight; with Ugandans rallying behind me and amplifying my voice. This expanded my social media following, increasing visibility to my work. Additionally, the experience allowed me to connect with extraordinary actors from across Africa and build meaningful relationships with key stakeholders, like the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), Pan African Women's Organization (PAWO), and the Office of the President. I appreciate the process of recording monologues throughout the completion, because it enabled a relentless pursuit of growth, challenging me to stay sharp, creative, and fearless. The Challenge was not just a milestone in my career, but a reminder that my passion and craft have the power to resonate beyond borders.
I Chadzanso Mwenda will continue to say this everywhere I go every open door is A Gate way to Africans being more and more aware of themselves and who they are as Super Natural Talents and Highly Gifted Creatives by nature, The African Monologue Challenge was A confirmation to me that indeed we Africans are Gifted beyond expectations, I enjoyed my Journey in the Pan African House, Meeting fellow creatives and interacting with like minded people happy to know that we all want the same thing just probably using different routes but definitely we will all meet again at work on one set or another soon somewhere on God's beautiful Earth.
I Learnt to Structure my Craft something that I sometimes overlook, because maybe one gets to feel I am Talented and Hardworking so sometimes we overlook the Structuring part that was a reminder that Talent is not enough one has to Structure, Plan and Package themselves and their Craft in A manner that will say " Iam here, Iam Present and I Mean Business" Respect my Time respect my Art. It's A once In A Lifetime opportunity that requires A lot of Sacrifice and Dedication it's not like you can wake up everyday and find yourself at the AMC you know, So when it comes take it by the horns do your best someone is always watching the right people specifically for you as A Talent are definitely watching.
Participating in the Africa Monologue Challenge was a great opportunity to develop as an Actress, especially by regularly working on Monologues and being encouraged to go further in my craft. The AMC is also another significant achievement in my career. After competing against thousands of contestants to being in the final 10, It was amazing to collaborate and work with the other great finalists as well as industry professionals. We performed a full play at The National Theatre of Ghana, which was an incredible opportunity and we managed to successfully navigate the rehearsals as well as the demands of the competition. The AMC was another experience of a great press tour, including TV/Radio interviews and PR.
I highly recommend the AMC to any performer who would like to go to the next level in their career, it's a great initiative to be part of.
Participating in the competition made me realize that I would want to collaborate with more Pan African artists because It opened up my world a bit more as an actor. It also reassured me of my talent & skill in industry on a global level. It was encouraging to see that I was at par with my peers from other countries and that I am definitely doing something right! It made me realize I can be more consistent when it comes to sharpening my skill. The fact that I was able to submit a monologue for each week for more than 10 weeks WITHOUT FAIL meant I could practise my craft more often if I decide to create the time for it. It also built my repertoireof monologues and now i have a collection to pick from any time I am asked for an audition tape.
Notable experiences… the food! The food was so so so good! I get why Ghanaians don’t like East African food 😭😭 Compared to theirs, ours is a tad underwhelming for sure! Experiencing a different culture is always so refreshing & gives you a different perspective in life!
Representing Nigeria at the Africa monologue challenge 2023 was a privilege I will never forget. The competition allowed me to hone my skills as an actor. The competition also exposed me to judges from all around the world who gave me helpful, critique, and feedback on my performances. AMC was very beneficial to me as an African actor because I was able to come together with other African actors in a Pan-African movement, making friends for life. Everyone brought their own unique skills to the mix and we worked together seamlessly. AMC also allowed me to reclaim the stage when we performed The Slaves Revisited at the national Theatre in Accra. It was such an enriching experience to be a part of the AMC and I would do it all again if I could.
Participating in the Africa Monologue Challenge was an exhilarating experience that tested my limits and helped me conquer personal anxieties. The weekly tasks kept me alert and prepared, while the pan-African platform allowed me to learn from and connect with exceptional talents, expanding my artistic horizons.
